Developing photos in the darkroom one evening,
a door opened, a portal,
its breeze swept my face
with a kiss

As white-gray-black deepened,
took form on soft silver paper,
an intelligence looked out,
saw me,
accepted my gaze

Colors pulse and hum
become a spiraling stream
and rush to a celebration,
where joy falls off the trees
ripe and ready.
